Sunday Sithy

My friend The Queen is married to Pirate Redbeard, a man who enjoys Sithy things, like awesome people do. Since I’m still feeling like I was chewed up and regurgitated by a mastodon, I will leave a Sithy here for Redbeard and sundry to enjoy.

Now that’s Sithy devotion 🙂

Spoonful of Sugar

I hate days like these.

It’s a beautiful morning, nice and cool outside. It is begging me to go out for a walk and enjoy the musical stylings of mockingbirds and sparrows, but no….. I have to be home sick with the beginnings of a nasty cold. This one I got from Hubby as a loving departing gift, which he got from Eldest as a loving welcoming gift. Yay, me.

I shall make a batch of The Pioneer Woman’s Chicken and Rice soup, which will make me feel tons better. I tend to not take a lot of medication, since I have an adverse reaction to most meds. Nothing major, just most tend to totally make me loopy or put me out like a light. Nyquil is NOT my best friend. I get a better result from drinking a shot of bourbon before bed, without the grogginess in the morning. At least I wasn’t sick while Hubby was on leave!

If y’all have any recommendations for a way to feel or get better, let me know. I’m on my second box of tissues!!

Born Yesterday

I firmly believe I should have been. Well, not literally. But I have an affinity for the 1940’s and 50’s. The music, the fashions, the radio shows, the comfort foods….and the *ahem* adult beverages. I swear, if I could channel June Cleaver, I would.

And sometimes, I manage to come so close!

A friend of mine makes these wonderful vintage aprons, and I just acquired my third creation!! All that is missing is a martini in my hand. Or maybe a Tom Collins. At least in my fantasy.

In reality, it would be Alka Seltzer 😉

Heavy Hearts

I miss him already.

We dropped off the kids this morning. Each one hugging and kissing their dad, as I kept a fixed smile on my face while feeling my heart leaden. We came home to pack his bag, and gather sundry last minute stuff for his trip. And tonight, after the kids have gone to bed, I will walk around the house, picking up everything he left behind, and praying for his swift return home.

Hopefully, time will fly at the speed of light.

Darth Steampunk

If I had the stuff, I would totally make this.

The only thing missing is a distressed leather cape.

Can you imagine what a Steampunk Darth Maul would look like?? 😀

Arrrgh!!!

Aye, it’s Talk Like a Pirate Day, me mateys!! Time for a bit of the grog, and shiver your timbers with a song!!

As it is a Monday, try not to get yerself in trouble and avoid walking the gangplank!!

Ahoy, me harties, yo ho!!!

1000th Comment!!

And the honor goes to….

MITCHELL!!

Not Mitchell, but a close facsimile 🙂

Congratulations, Mitchell!! You just won Artwork by Aggieâ„¢ for being Numero 1000!!!

Lazy Bones

I love Sundays. Hm….no, it’s not that it’s Sunday, per se, but that it’s a quiet day. After running errands all week, the cooking, the laundry, the cleaning, the homework (some of which does escape me), it’s nice to enjoy the peace and quiet with a cup of coffee. The coffee is mandatory, as are PJs. After all, you want to be comfortable when the kids wake up, rooting around the refrigerator for breakfast. And that’s another thing: the kitchen is closed.

They will be waiting a loooooooooong time for me to call, too 😀

Tactical Style

Laura over at Fetch My Flying Monkeys gave an account yesterday of her friend Richelle’s run-in with a racist @$$#*!&. We in the blogosphere were rightly incensed, appalled, and wishing that we lived closer to both Laura and Richelle so that we too could have the opportunity to unleash major fury on that @$$#*!&. Because y’all know we would have hunted him down like the vermin he is and wreaked havoc upon his sorry carcass until not even the vultures would have recognized it for carrion.

Whew….got a little woozy there for a minute.

Anyway, after expressing everything we would do to that low-life our anger, I went back to read the rest of the comments. I am so proud to be associated with such bloodthirsty wonderful people. But the last comment I read was from Mrs. Who, who had the awesomest link ever:

A TACTICAL CORSET!!!!! Two holsters, and webbing for attachment of modular pouches & tools for ammo. Oh, and if you don’t like black, they have custom fabric choices, including Steampunk prints with lace, and fashionable silks.

If that doesn’t scream my name, y’all are deaf. I get one of these, and Laura Croft will have nothing on me!!

A Girl’s Best Friend

Y’all know eventually this blog would talk about this. Women are like magpies. Shiny, pretty things grab our eye, and sometimes even our wallet. I confess, though, I am not a fan of diamonds. Don’t get me wrong. I love to look at them, from a geological point of view. A diamond in the rough is far more attractive to me than one already cut. But that’s not to say I don’t admire the precision and art of the cut. Hubby asks me every-so-often if I would like a diamond for an anniversary. Every year I tell him, “Nope, I already have my rock!” I prefer stones with color, but oddly, not colored diamonds. However, I did find a stone I do like:

This is the Asscher cut. Me likey lots. Sadly, I have to wait until a MAJOR anniversary to score something like this. Like maybe my 50th. More likely my 75th, though. If I really want one, though, I can always get a fake one from QVC. They know me by name 😉
