I firmly believe I should have been. Well, not literally. But I have an affinity for the 1940’s and 50’s. The music, the fashions, the radio shows, the comfort foods….and the *ahem* adult beverages. I swear, if I could channel June Cleaver, I would.
And sometimes, I manage to come so close!
A friend of mine makes these wonderful vintage aprons, and I just acquired my third creation!! All that is missing is a martini in my hand. Or maybe a Tom Collins. At least in my fantasy.
In reality, it would be Alka Seltzer π

Well Mrs Aggie, I finally figured out who you kinda remind me of here:
Erma Bombeck ~ In a Machete-wielding zombie killer when not a stay-at-home mom kinda of way, of course.
And that is truly a compliment. I even have you bookmarked!
Unfortunately, I see you have some more time to write right now.

Hey, you!
I kinda like the Erma vibe, too π

Would you be offended if I said it reminded me of a Christmas tree skirt?
September 23rd, 2011 at 9:51 AM
If I had legs like yours I would dress like that all the time!
September 23rd, 2011 at 9:57 AM
AG, not at all…. Hm… maybe I’ll get my aprons together and use them for my Christmas tree!!
Queen, you do, and you should π

Well, better June Clever than the other ladies from that era…the Stepford Wives.
Have to admit, I feel the same way. The late 30’s, 40’s would be where I wanted to be say at the age of about 25 or so. I would have given any of the crooners a run for their money. And would have enlisted in the Marines, when WWII started. In any event, it did seem life was a bit more black and white back then….shades of grey only really began being felt in the 60’s.

I don’t know that Judy Holiday would have worn that, but if it was all she was wearing, I could handle it.

I assure you, there is a black skirt under my apron π
