Breaking In Spring

It’s Spring Break, and my kidlets are booooooooooooooored.

I’m sorry, but I don’t see where it says “Entertainer Galore” on my job description. But at least Son will be hosting his birthday party, and they will be occupied making fun of what their parents used to wear during the 80’s. Whatever…. I make fun of the stuff they wear now, so we’re even.

But today is a special day in Geekdom. It is 3/14, and therefore PI DAY!!!!

Creatively borrowed from my friend, The Queen.

Yes, I will be making pie. No, I won’t go through the trouble of cutting out the pastry into numbers. I don’t have time for that. I’ll be lucky if I keep enough of it to make the pie in the first place. Or the filling, for that matter.

Anyway, hope y’all have a great day, and don’t forget to have some Pi 😀

Soon….Very Soon….

It’s almost time for Spring Break around these parts!

We have no plans.

Usually, some friends come and visit for a couple of days, and that seems to be the extent of our little break. But this time, friends are coming from overseas and staying for a couple of weeks, and I am sooooooooo excited!! Why? Because my friend is going to teach me to make sauer braten!!

Don’t know if that’s spelled correctly, and don’t much care. So soon, very soon, I shall be partaking of that wonderful dish, along with her should-be-world-famous strudel.

And did I mention this will happen AFTER Easter??

And furthermore, I kept all of my elastic-waist pants. I am not stupid. So, enjoy this German Vader while I begin to prepare for the upcoming awesomeness!

Hope y’all have a wonderful day, and have a beer for me 😀

Will, Meet Way

Lenten Fridays are always a challenge. Since we observe no meat on Fridays, the menus are a bit more limited, especially since Little One is so dang picky in the first place. Some people allow fish on Fridays, and that’s why there are fish sticks in the freezer right now, since I am positive that Little One will not want what’s on the menu for this evening.

ZOMG AWESOME!! And so easy to make. And above all, no complaining from the head of the household. And by that, I mean Hubby.

Now, time for me to get going. I have a Confirmation to attend, gifts to wrap, dinner to set up, dessert to cool, and Guilder to frame for it 😉

Overstuffed

I have come to a conclusion: there is no room for anything in this house.

After days of clearing out the upstairs scrapbooking stuff from the storage closet, only to organize what I kept back in it, it just seems like I still have no room for anything. Add to that the full SUV I took to Goodwill drop-off this past Saturday, and I still have a cluttered garage. Every shelf and bookcase and cabinet is completely full.

I thought of turning to Craigslist or some similar way of advertising all the stuff I want to set fire to banish from the premises. But I am a bit *ahem* leery of doing that. Maybe I’ll just set it all on the sidewalk with a sign that says “FREE STUFF”. All I know is I have plans for this house, and that entails getting rid of a LOT of crap:

  • I want to set up a dart board and a fridge in the garage.
  • I want to have my own scrapping area.
  • I want to put all the books in shelf units.
  • I want to organize all the power tools into ONE place.
  • And finally, I want to set up my stained-glass art area.

I have PLANS, people. I just need the oomph to get going.

That, and more shelves, apparently 😉

Things I Hate, Vol. 25

Ugh….

I hate laundry. I have no problem washing and drying, or even ironing.

I just hate folding all that crap.

clothes basket

I have no problems with cleaning bathrooms, or washing cars, or cleaning ovens, or even disposing of intelligent life found in my refrigerator.

But I absolutely loathe folding clothes.

Am I the only one?? 😉

Spring Loaded Cleaning

I know. It’s not spring yet.

I’m not loaded yet, either.

But I do have a lot of cleaning out to do. For years I have had all of my scrapbooking supplies in the storage closet upstairs. Also in that closet are the Christmas decorations. And last but not least, the many, many paperbacks I own.

cleaning dance

Yes, I totally do this. And yes, I do look like Ginger Rogers, at least if you squint hard enough. And look straight into the Sun.

Anyway, today I am getting rid of a lot of stamps sets, scrapbooking papers, albums, and other what-nots. I’m sure there will be some kids toys and random crap I have shelved in there in a feeble attempt to “clean” before, but I am buckling down. No more Mrs. Nice Gal! If I don’t have a use for it, haven’t read it in a year, is out of style, or otherwise doesn’t contribute to the general well-being of the house, out it goes. I will endeavor to have before-and-after pics for y’all.

It will be like “Hoarders”, but on a very small scale. Miniscule scale. STOP JUDGING ME!!! 😀

Oops, I Did It Again…

Well, I started out to write today with good intentions.

Until I walked into the kids’ bathroom.

Three hours later…..

bottle graveyard

I must have removed eleven empty bottles, and for the life of me, I can’t understand how it is that they can’t throw away an empty bottle into the trashcan that is only two feet from the tub!!

Two. Feet.

Honestly, if I could adhere the trashcan to the tub, I would.

Hope y’all have a wonderful afternoon. I’m off to ventilate the toxic fumes 😀

Two Days Later

I know I am not getting off to a good start, keeping to my “one post a day” habit. But to be fair, I never made a resolution to do a post a day, so it’s not like I’m breaking one.

Today marks the Twelfth Day of Christmas, and Epiphany, which means it is now time to take down the Christmas decorations. But before I can do that,  have to filter out the unwanted decorations to toss out.

Along with the old lights that don’t work.

And the wrinkled wrapping paper saved through the years.

Oh, and who can forget the broken ornaments??

Normally this would be easy to do. However, the Christmas stuff is in the same storage area as my scrapbooking stuff, and of course, everything gets mixed up because that’s Newton’s Law at work with Murphy. No, I don’t know which Newton’s Law. I write for effect, not veracity. On top of that, I have not cleaned up after myself after the whirlwind craftmaking of the past few weeks. It looks like Archiver’sâ„¢ exploded.

So, today will be a very busy day. How do I know? I have been writing this post off and on for the past four hours.

Hope y’all’s Sunday is far less hectic!! 😀

I Love a Good Bargain

I was at the outlet mall this afternoon, searching for that elusive perfect gift for my in-laws.

I did not find it.

Seriously, they are very difficult to shop for, mostly because they own everything that house can possibly hold they could possibly want. But on a lark, I decided to peruse the Williams-Sonomaâ„¢ section of the Pottery Barnâ„¢ outlet. And you know how sometimes salespeople find old stock in the backroom, and bring it out at a super reduced price, because it was discontinued a looooong time ago? Well, that happened, and I was there at the right time!!

That is a 1 quart Le Creusetâ„¢ Round French Oven. It retails for $105.00. Yes, you read that correctly. The original outlet price was $65.00. And the marked down price was $22.00.

And it was 30% off.

AND I got a 10% military discount.

AND I AM ONE HAPPY CAMPER!!!

I would have given it to my in-laws, but they only like the blue Le Creusetâ„¢. Pity, isn’t it?? 😉

The Ides of Whatever

Middle of November, and guess what? I have barely made a dent in holiday plans.

It happens every year. I make plans, lists, calls, plans, more plans, and come November, all of the plans have been changed so often that no one knows where we are going, what we are doing, who we are visiting, and more importantly why we are screaming.

Ok, the family knows why I’m screaming. They manage to tune it out, though.

So, due to miscommunication, we will be staying home for Thanksgiving. That means shopping for turkey, trimmings, and the like.

Lucky for moi, I have all that stuff down now.

I just hope that the week goes by quickly. No telling how much Skyrim music I can take while basting the roast 😀
