It’s Not Rolling, But I Did Leap for Joy

It’s Sunday, and with Hubby home, that means the re-establishing of a family tradition. One that will make my hips whimper, but I don’t care.

SHIPLEY DO-NUTS!!!

Yes, that’s the proper way to spell it. While he was gone we seldom got the chance to get doughnuts for breakfast. It was something we did with him, so we fell out of the habit of going for doughnuts. But now, it is time to get back into the groove of things, and rejoice!!

It’s not a perfect circle, true. But it is a perfect combination of sugar and fats!! Ironically, I prefer Dunkin’ Donuts™ coffee to Shipley’s. But then again, I don’t go there for coffee. I go there for the sugary goodness that screams a symphony in my head as I partake of it.

And now, if y’all will excuse me? I have to go walk off the 20,000 calories I just ingested 😉

Common Scents

I love candles. They are romantic, and give a very flattering light, and in the winter they help to warm up the home. I have them everywhere, on the kitchen table, the bar, around my bathtub, even in the fireplace. Love, love, LOVE them.

But I also have kids. And I have excitable dogs. And that means that sometimes candles are a hazard to my mental health. Nothing like having a son asking if he can burn his graded schoolwork in his room to make one think twice about lighting candles. I’m pretty sure he was joking, but knowing that he mastered the campfire merit badge before anyone else makes me a bit….cautious.

Anyway, as all parents know, kids are some of the most aromatic creatures on the planet, and that’s not a compliment. I keep their doors closed for two reasons: 1) the sight of their wreckage, and 2) the smell of their laundry. And if you own snakes, then it’s double as bad. At first I utilized candles, but then I was afraid of the hazard that comes with them being unattended. Then I got wax warmers, but they also required the use of tealights. And finding a pile of ash by one in Son’s room one day was enough to get me to look for an alternative.

Now, that’s smart! A warmer you plug in!! No flames, no fear!! And I love that you can change the scent from one day to the next without having to store a big candle somewhere. And on the plus side, it gives off a soft light, as well. I have already spilled the wax while moving furniture, and found that it is easier to wipe off than that of conventional candles. I do still keep candles around, but for high traffic areas, these warmers are safer and make better sense.

I just wish I had thought of them years ago 😉

Sunday Sithy

Well, I overslept. Hey, I needed it. I have been having trouble sleeping for the past few weeks.

Get your minds out of the gutter.

My anxiety is rearing its ugly head again, which is odd, since Hubby is home now. However, last night I slept deeply and had no heart palpitations to wake me, so that was good. Now, I have to get some coffee in me before the headache gets out of hand.

The Force™ is with me, and it’s nice and smooth! Have a great relaxing Sunday!! 😉

How to Get Brownie Points on Mother’s Day

Yeah, I’m still operating at impulse power, and what better way to use impulse than to go shopping, right?? Mother’s Day is just around the corner, and I know some of y’all tend to wait until the last freakin’ minute overthink about the perfect gift.

Well, that’s what I’m here for. I am your Fairy Aggie. Oh, shut it, and read on.

Jewelry and knick knacks tend to be perennial favorites, but there comes a time that they become run-of-the-mill, and totally expected. Try to think outside the jewelry box. As y’all know, I am a big, BIG fan of PJs. Nothing better than wearing comfy PJs and relaxing, in my opinion. If the mom in your life is like that, she would looooove these:

As always, model not included, so don’t bother asking.

All That Glitters

Last week, I discovered that Lolita,  wine glass designer extraordinaire, has her own blog!!

And then I discovered she had designed a new glass!!

The Heart of Gold wine glass!! And y’all can bet a bottle of wine I will be christening it this weekend. And since I still have Peeps™ left over, it’s going to be a very, very nice weekend. At least for me 😉

Easter Came and Went, and No Sugar Coma

I just didn’t have the time!!

Yesterday found us attending a lovely Easter Mass, and then rushing to pack up the Mom Mobile™ for our trip back home. Normally I would have gorged on the Peeps™ once I got home, but we had to unpack and settle my folks in their prospective areas (I got Dad, and sis got Mom), and then had to rush over a late dinner and then get home. It was late, and though I very much wanted to savor the sugary goodness, I was just too tired.

And today finds me in quandary. I have to go pick up my other sister and her family from the airport, and can’t indulge until after they are settled at my sister’s, because even though I am a rather cool aunt, I refuse to share my Peeps™. I know that sounds selfish, but c’mon!!! I have waited for weeks for this stuff!!!

But I think I have found the solution.

AND… I’m using cotton candy vodka.

I would like to see a kid try to take that Peep away from me!!

There will be sweet, sweet sugar tonight 😉

A Trick and a Treat

I know, I know… wrong day, wrong month, wrong season. But this isn’t about Halloween.

I saw this photo today on a social site, and as my tummy was growling, I was reading the comments on it.

First of all, ZOMGYUMMY!!!! But secondly, just how is it done?

Well, most of my foodie friends have figured it out. But not the commenters at the photo. They kept asking if one presses the uncooked bacon in a muffin pan and bake. Close, but using this is much simpler:

Invert the custard cup upside down, and wrap the bacon around it. Then bake until done, and you have a beautiful little bacon bowl. You can do this with pie crust and phyllo pastry, too. And it makes you look like some big time gourmet!

Can this Sith cook, or can’t she??

Good News in Time For Easter!

Guess what I just found out???

I CAN EAT CHOCOLATE AND STAY THIN!!!!

Now, the article does emphasize that one shouldn’t gorge on chocolate, but it does stress that chocolate is full of the antioxidants that help to promote weight loss. And it also states that bitter chocolate helps to suppress appetite better than sweet chocolate.

All I know is, I am going to start nibbling on bittersweet chocolate twice a week. For health reasons, you know.

But that will happen after I gorge on Easter chocolate. Cadbury eggs are awesome!!! 😉

Sometimes My Kids Forget How Cool I Am

Yesterday I was cleaning out my jewelry stash, preparing to let the girls go through my discards of fashion baubles prior to giving the rest to my nieces. Sometimes I do wonder whatever motivated me to buy certain pieces of jewelry. No, I have nothing with skulls and crossbones in the lot. Not yet, anyway. Suffice it to say, most of it is usually appreciated by the girls, so it’s never a loss. But the cascading shell earrings were a wash for sure.

Anyway, as I was reorganizing my treasure chest the lot, I came across certain pieces that Hubby acquired during a conference he attended in Scottsdale, Arizona. I usually wear the earrings and necklaces, but had completely forgotten about this one:

Those who know me will probably be surprised that I own a “slave bracelet”. They would be more surprised to find that I own more than one. And let’s not start on the ankle bracelets. That inventory can take a while.

That’s right, kidlets: your momma is way cool, and she has the creds to prove it 😉

St. Paddy’s Turned Into Christmas!

A brief prayer to thank the Good Lord that Spring Break is now over.

Over the weekend, I went to visit my folks. I try to post once a day, but posting Sunday was just not going to happen. It was really nice to visit with them, and have the chance to make plans for Easter. And as usual, my mom was working on a puzzle. She really enjoys the challenge, just like Little One does. As we were putting it together, my mom mentioned that I should take some of her silver since she doesn’t use it. As I ran like a mad woman calmly walked around the table to look at the pieces, I noticed she had some stemware, and I offered to clean them. She looked up and said it wasn’t necessary, but that I should take them.

Like I’m going to pass on WATERFORD™!!!

And if that weren’t enough, I came home to find a lovely surprise from The Queen!!

SQUEEEE!!! I got my own Pat O’Brien’s Hurricane glass, and a bag of mix, too!! The instructions say to add 4 oz of reconstituted mix to 4 oz of gold rum, and pour into the 28 oz glass full of crushed ice. I’m thinking more along the lines of less ice, and more booze.

But that will have to wait until Easter 😉
