Royal Flush

Those of you who have met me know I am prone to embarrassment, to the amusement of everyone. It’s nice that I can bring smiles to people’s faces, but it takes a toll when I am the object of their mirth. I remember one time, in seventh grade, I was in Orchestra class, and the string on my viola popped clean off. I took it to my sectionals teacher, who was busy with the bass section, and she asked me to hold her instrument while she replaced my string. As she walked to the office, she informed everyone that “Aggie snapped her G string.”

Everyone laughed and smirked.

Everyone but me. Why? Because I had no freakin’ idea what a G string was!!!

embarrassed-polar-bear

Go ahead and laugh. You live far, far away from me anyway.

Anyway, I asked my teacher about it after class, and she explained, to which I rolled my eyes and said that women would never wear such things.

My innocence is completely shattered, by the way.

So, what kind of embarrassing moments have y’all enjoyed in your lives? 😀

Sleeeeeeeeeeep……….

I don’t get it.

Last night I was in bed by 10 PM. I didn’t read at all, just laid my head on my rather ancient pillow, and the next thing I know my alarm is going off and I really, really didn’t want to move. And when I say that, I mean I didn’t even want to turn off the alarm, because that would have meant actually MOVING my arm.

broken clock

Anyone else felt like that? What did you do to counter the grogginess?

And were law enforcement involved?? 😀

Friday Open Thread, Since I Have No Time, Again…

It’s noon. And I have barely enough time to write anything!

It’s not like I don’t have a lot to say, or rather say a lot. Anyone who knows me knows I can talk forever. The problem I have is being coherent, apparently.

Ergo, the Open Thread!!

Most awesome uniform ever??

For me, it’s a toss up between this:

And this:

Could you imagine if U.S. Marines wore kilts?? I think I would die from the awesomeness.

And don’t get me started on firemen. Wowza!! 😉

All in the Family

This weekend was like a whirlwind. We arrived a little late after dealing with hellacious traffic on the way up yonder East Texas. But better later than never. We had a great time catching up with relatives, and as always, enjoyed adding names to the HUGE genealogy chart.

The tragedy: I forgot to take the lemonade, and its additives.

Sometimes my mind is like a sieve. Especially when trying to get your eldest kid out the door on time.

So, I made do with Dr Pepper, and pie, and cookies, and more pie. Then Hubby’s cousins got the wonderful idea to go to the lake for a while. A bit of fishin’, a bit of tall tales, and a lot of family. Usually I tend to skip that part of the visit, mostly because my sisters-in-law tend to stay behind and that gives us a chance to visit, but this time none of them were able to make it, so I went to the lake with the kids and the cousins and one very big uncle. And then, my salvation:

You see that percentage number??? Yes, it took me an hour to drink one. ONE. HOUR. By then, my distaff cousins-in-law were well into their thirds. And thus, hilarity ensued.

All in all, it was a great weekend. We missed most of Hubby’s immediate family, but hopefully that will be remedied the following weekend.

Provided I don’t forget my lemonade again 😉

Food for the Soul

And for the gullet! Sometimes we take for granted food that makes us feel good, the Comfort Foods™ from our childhood. I have to admit, eating certain foods does give me a serenity that has nothing to do with a happy tummy. The truth is, they bring back nice memories, and that makes me enjoy them more. Like drinking coffee in the afternoon. I remember my grandmother laying out the china (we each had our own pattern), slicing the bread, the cheese, and putting out the jars of jam and butter, and making us feel like grown-ups for partaking at a very young age. She even taught us to put our pinkies out! She was a stickler for manners, and that has saved my derriere on occasion.

So here are some of my favorites. Don’t judge me.

#5– Beef Stew

I don’t care if we are having a 113* Fahrenheit heat wave here. I will make beef stew in the summer, and eat it while it’s still bubbly hot. And yes, I make mine with dry red wine, and serve it with crusty bread.

#4– Chicken Broccoli Casserole

Chicken and broccoli, covered in a thick cream with onions and topped with cheddar cheese. That sound you heard was my arteries cringing.

#3– Meatloaf

My sister is a great cook, but even she admits my meatloaf is way better than hers. When your brother-in-law asks for it for his birthday, you know it’s good!

#2– Grilled Cheese

One word: ZOMG!! Who doesn’t get comfort out of eating such gooey goodness??

And last, but not least:

#1– Anything with Bacon

Tell me I’m wrong.

I’m sure y’all have your favorites, too. And I’m sure my #1 is a favorite with all 😉

And a hat tip to my friend, Blutarskyy, for the inspiration!

May the Fourth Be Always

Today is the official holiday of Sithy Things. Like y’all didn’t see that coming, right? Son and Eldest and I will be sporting Sith wear. Unfortunately,  Little One is doing a band recruitment so she couldn’t wear her Sithy stuff, and Hubby will be flying out to Hungary today, so he is trying to be as inconspicuous as possible. But the rest of us have our geek on, and are loving it!

Sometimes I surprise myself…

Anyway, I hope today the Force™ is strong with y’all, because I would find y’all’s lack of faith in it….disturbing… 😉

Have a wonderful Friday!!!

Taking a Break

Going to bookstores today, so there may be an update.

Maybe….

I don’t know. So here:

Yes, you do know it’s true. 🙂

Friday Sithy

Today finds me getting the house ready before my parents arrive. I rearranged the upstairs completely, and only need to finish cleaning the bathrooms before we pack up and go. And since I’m cleaning house, I thought this Sithy was rather appropriate.

I ♥ Legos!!

Y’all have a wonderful Good Friday!!! 😀

Posting Later

So talk amongst yourselves…

The topic: Will Aggie survive today’s ordeal??

Stay tuned!!! 😉

Friday Sithy

I am going to be out of town this morning, running an errand for a friend in Oklahoma, so I will post one of those “What I Really Do” posters floating around the interwebtubenets for your enjoyment!
