Two Days Later

I know I am not getting off to a good start, keeping to my “one post a day” habit. But to be fair, I never made a resolution to do a post a day, so it’s not like I’m breaking one.

Today marks the Twelfth Day of Christmas, and Epiphany, which means it is now time to take down the Christmas decorations. But before I can do that,  have to filter out the unwanted decorations to toss out.

Along with the old lights that don’t work.

And the wrinkled wrapping paper saved through the years.

Oh, and who can forget the broken ornaments??

Normally this would be easy to do. However, the Christmas stuff is in the same storage area as my scrapbooking stuff, and of course, everything gets mixed up because that’s Newton’s Law at work with Murphy. No, I don’t know which Newton’s Law. I write for effect, not veracity. On top of that, I have not cleaned up after myself after the whirlwind craftmaking of the past few weeks. It looks like Archiver’s™ exploded.

So, today will be a very busy day. How do I know? I have been writing this post off and on for the past four hours.

Hope y’all’s Sunday is far less hectic!! 😀

First Day of 2013

And…. off to a weird start.

Which means things are normal.

I seldom make resolutions. Actually, I don’t ever remember making any. And that’s saying something. In my humble opinion, it’s a waste of time. It works for some people, but I do better if I just deal with each challenge as it comes my way.

2013 book

Looking at 365 pages is a bit overwhelming. Taking one page at a time is manageable!

Here’s to a better year, and to filling each page with great memories 🙂

Last Day of 2012

And thank goodness it’s over.

This year was hard. Some people would tell me that it only made me stronger. Not really. I found I was able to withstand more, but that doesn’t mean strength, necessarily. But all the bad things made me realize just how truly blessed I am. For the first time in years I don’t find myself looking back at the passing year, but rather looking forward to the coming one. I used to think my glass was half empty, and then I started thinking it was half full.

But the truth is there’s a waiter somewhere who needs to fill it 😀

happy new year 2013

HAPPY NEW YEAR, EVERYONE!!!

One Down, One to Go

Well, next up is New Year’s Eve.

I am…. not a fan. It’s not that I don’t enjoy company or parties. It’s just that in my opinion, it’s just another day.

new year

Ironically, I have plans for it this year. Not one party, but TWO!!

I’m not sure if that means two outfits. I hope it does.

All I know is that it means staying up past my bedtime. So much for my beauty sleep 😉

Obviously, I am Not a Woman of Mystery

Christmas was a big hit around here. We spent it at my folks for the first part of the day, then drove home to open the gifts in the evening.

When Eldest asked if I wanted my gifts wrapped, I knew it was going to be fun. Seems that *ahem* people forgot to wrap my gifts. No matter. I told her it was a waste of time and effort and to just put it in the bags they came in. Hubby had taken the kids to shop for me. I will never let him do that again, because apparently the kids did the choosing.

Don’t get me wrong. It’s very cool, and very warm! It was the Sithy gift.

And this was the wino gift.

The Wine Tasting Lolita™ glass! I didn’t have it, so that was a plus, because I hate, hate, HATE returning and/or exchanging anything. So I got Sithy and wine gifts for this Christmas. All in all, people know me well.

I may need to get a new hobby 😉

Over the River and Through the Monte

No, not the Full Monty. Monte is what we refer to as the brush country. There are no woods around here.

Anyway, I will be gone from the blogs for a couple of days. I hope y’all have a Merry Christmas, and have a wonderful holiday!

May the blessings of the Season envelop you throughout the coming year!!

Sands in an Hourglass

Seriously, I have no time for anything lately. I still have gifts to wrap, and baking to do, and groceries to get, and dogs to board, and Guilder to frame for it.

Just seeing if you’re paying attention.

Every year I tell myself the same thing: I’ll start to wrap and decorate early. And as usual, something happens. Obviously, the accident played a HUGE part this year. But c’mon! I can use gift bags instead of wrapping paper. I just have this….block, for lack of a better term. The Christmas tree is finally up, but I have yet to put up the stockings. Or the garlands. Or the mistletoe ball.

And I just remembered the outside lights. Eh, forget that. I don’t have enough strings of lights to spell “D-I-T-T-O” anyway.

Maybe if I do the tree like that next year, I won’t have to worry about gift wrapping.

I hope I’m not the only one procrastinating. Am I?? 😀

Two Front Teeth and a Box of Rocks

For the life of me, I don’t understand what is so hard about giving me gifts.

My mother swears up and down to anyone who will listen that I am the HARDEST person to shop for. I’m sure this stems from the Spiegel™ Dress Incident of 1983. She purchased a rather nice dress from the pricey catalog for me, and I was not overly gushy about it. In my defense, it would not be acceptable at school because of it being strapless, and I was such a fuddy duddy that I felt uncomfortable wearing it.

I have since gotten over that hang-up, as you can probably tell.

I am a creature of habit. Seriously. Coffee, wine, bubble bath, pajamas, chocolate, jewelry….not ONE of those things have ever changed. Admittedly, I have found some things that I like as I’ve grown older.

Sadly, they are appliances, pots and pans, and air fresheners.

Knives, earrings, comfy sweats…. I am happy with almost anything.

Except artwork. I have no space for it, and no patience trying to decipher what the artist is trying to tell me. Besides, I quite love the artwork my kids have made over the years far more 🙂

My Preciouses

It’s a simple tale. One of a new hope that I would score the new Darth Vader ornament from Hallmark™. Alas, the stores around here would sell out of the very few they would get in stock, for the demand was high, and the lists were long. But hope refused to die, and so I placed my name on the list just this past Friday, thinking that maybe, perhaps I would get a call from the imperial salesperson.

I perused the interwebs looking for the ornament. Alas again, eBay™ was the least expensive alternatives to be found in the shopping empire.

The cheapest being $40 starting bid.

I love you like a father, Vader, but there’s a limit.

But Life is funny, and strikes back when you least expect it!

BEHOLD MY NEW PRECIOUS!!!!!!!!!!

I received the call that the store had but one in their stock, and I was next in line!! As soon as Hubby was home we went to get it. The imperial saleslady was *ahem* less imperialistic when she explained that she had forgotten to call on Saturday. I was too happy to care. And because I was too happy, I got him a minion, too.

My tree will be EPIC!!!

The Force™ was definitely with me 😉

My Inner Muse Has Laryngitis

I can’t think of anything to write for today. I have to go grocery shopping, and then have the kids help with decorations and cleaning. On the upside, I get to completely supervise. On the down side, anything on the tree that I can’t reach will necessarily stay there.

That goes for lights outside, too.

Anyway, I hope my muse gets better soon. Until then, have a great Saturday 🙂
