About LC Aggie Sith

Machete-wielding zombie killer when not shopping for shoes.

One of my favorite haunts is HubbleSite. I love me some astronomy! Of course, perusing that site eventually makes you pick and choose your favorites, even though the entire gallery is magnificent in scope and information. And this is one of mine:

A chocolate-covered cherry in the Cosmos.

This is V838 Monocerotis, and you are looking at the light echo from the red supergiant star, which illuminates the dust surrounding it.

Don’t forget: tonight is a full moon! Go outside and enjoy the heavens!!

Crowning Glory

A while back Laura over at Fetch My Flying Monkeys was exclaiming about how absolutely awesome Bumble & Bumble hair products are. She was practically swooning, people. And as women are wont to do, when one recommends a product, that means you are in dire need of it. And my tresses were looking a bit tired, and forlorn, you know. They are practically dying (and yes, I do know hair is dead protein, but that is beside the point).

This is were I justify my actions, so no need to judge me.

Anyway, off I went to check out this miracle in a bottle. Alas, the cost is a bit prohibitive, especially when the new Trollbeads will be released on the 26th of this month, and Little One is hinting that she wants her very own bracelet for Christmas. She’s a Mini-Me, only pretty, and adorable, and sneaky. Anyway, as I was looking at the rest of the designer shampoos, I noticed that Organix was on sale, and decided to try it.

ZOMG!!! The change in my hair was palpable. My hair wasn’t frizzy or poofy, but had these pretty gentle waves to it, it didn’t “flyaway”, and felt sooooo soft!! And if something works, people, you have to get the whole system, right? So, I went and got the Argan Oil treatment, thinking it would be a bit too oily for me.

My tresses feel like spun silk from the Orient.

I’m a convert. I love the argan oil. This treatment has other ingredients, but hopefully in the future I will own a small bottle of the pure stuff. Perhaps my contact in the Middle East can acquire a stash of the stuff for me πŸ˜‰

Sithy Funny

Well, I’m running late again around here, and trying to get the kids’ school stuff organized. Don’t y’all love it when a kid comes to you and asks you to buy them a book that they needed five minutes ago?

Yep, neither do I. So I shall leave you with a Sithy Funny to compensate for my lack of verbiage this morning.

Because y’all know how I feel about coffee πŸ˜‰

Sibling Rivalry

I am a very proud mom. Both of my children in High School will be enrolled in the Air Force Junior ROTC this year. And up until yesterday, everything about that was simply perfect.

And then, Eldest came home, beaming from ear to ear. Usually that is a good sign. She is in a good mood, and is therefore more productive. In turn, I don’t have to deal with drama, or crankiness, or more drama. So, like a good mom, I asked her how things went.

She was promoted to officer!!

YAY!!!!

She will be in charge of her brother’s flight!!

Crap.

I’ll be honest, my kids do get along well, but they can also get a bit testy when one reigns supreme over the other. However, it being the ROTC, I know they can be professional about it. The true test will be on Eldest, since she has to walk the tightrope between fairness, and being a tyrannical megalomaniac. I know she can do well, as she has proven herself to the Commander. And this will help her achieve her goals toward leadership positions.

But Son won’t take crap from her sitting down for long.

Move over, lemonade. It’s time for Mylanta. πŸ™‚

This is Only a Test

Well, it’s only a little quiz, really. And completely harmless and fun.You can’t fail, no one is here to grade you, and I was told there would be no math.

It’s the World’s Smallest Political Quiz.

Here are my results for 2011:

The last time I took this little quiz, it was 2007, and I was right above the letter “R” in “Right”. Quite a difference, n’est pas??

The times, they are a’changin’ πŸ˜‰

Manic Monday

Usually I wake up gradually as the sun rises. I can’t manage to ever sleep in, unless I stay up the evening before well into the early morning hours, and then I sleep only until about 8:30 AM. Yes, I realize I am doing it wrong. I can’t even manage to nap during the day.

Anyway, this morning I woke up in a panic. Eldest had a AFJROTC seminar to attend at 8 AM, and it was 7:30, and since she moves at the speed of dark, I kind of freaked out a bit, and ran to get her going, only to find her in the bathroom getting spiffied up.

Me: Don’t you have to be there at 8???

Eldest: No, mom… 8:30.

Me: Oh….

Eldest: I got everything ready last night, too.

Me: Oh, good!

I trudge back to the kitchen to get coffee, and settle to read the horrid news from all over the world, and at 8:17 she walks into the kitchen, all spit shined and pretty, ready to go. I get up and move to go when suddenly she says:

Eldest: Oh, I forgot I can’t wear red nail polish!!

Me: Tough, they will deal with it. Let’s go!

The more things change….

Fashionistas

A friend of mine, the one who is crazy about shoes, loves to post photos of fabulous dresses as well. And by “fabulous” I mean “in the five figure range”. This morning she showed me this confection:

Me: I like the flow and the ruffles on the top that Valentino is famous for, but that flounce at the bottom hurts my eyes.

Friend: One word: V A L E N T I N O!

Me: Two words: B A D G L E YΒ  M I S C H K A !!

More like this:

It’s one of my grails to own a Badgley Mishka gown. I can only hope one shows up at the Goodwill store in my size someday. The funny thing is, Eldest owns one. And by “funny” I mean “tragic”. She needed it for a runway show, and I found it majorly reduced, in her size, and the Saks’ Off 5th store. Talk about lucky.

Now, if only I needed a gown for an occasion besides housework πŸ™‚

Open Thread Friday

My apologies for having not much to write about. Between having friends from out of town, especially the kind thatΒ convinces me into buying more Trollbeads, and getting school supply lists done, back-to-school clothes shopping for kids, and registration and transfers, I am finding nothing to report at Casa de Aggie. It’s a desert here.

My lawn, only not as pretty, or with suck a fantastic view

So, to my few readers I ask: are there any topics you would like me to write about? Feel free to make suggestions!!

And also, feel free to do a raindance or two πŸ˜‰

Thursday Sithy Funny

Ok, have lots to do today, and haven’t the time to write nonsensical musings, so I will leave y’all with the funniest sign ever:

And though I have a mild language preference for the blog, I could NOT pass this up.

Welcome to the Puzzlehouse

My Little One is fond of puzzles. Very fond. Extremely fond. Thankfully, she can be entertained for hours putting a puzzle together. Usually her puzzles are anywhere in the 250 to 500 piece range, but this time she decided to try 1000.

And danged if she didn’t do most of it!

No flowers or butterflies for her, either. That is The Elements, based on the book by the same name by Theodore Gray. Unlike most times when you do the edges first, it was easier to start with the inner pieces, since the outer ones were solid black.

As you can tell, the elements were represented by real-world items, in this case, Hydrogen was represented by the Pillars of Creation. Carbon was a diamond, Iron was a horseshoe, etc. Several are represented by their namesakes, like Einsteinium. All in all, it was a challenge to put together.

It will be a pity to take apart πŸ˜‰
