I love my state. There is always some exotic attraction no matter where you are. And by “exotic”, I don’t mean a gentleman’s club. Though there’s a few of those too. No, I mean weird.
Today we shall be going here. That’s right, the SNAKE FARM!!!
ZOMG!!! Isn’t he adorable?? But it’s not just a reptile place. They have a petting zoo and rescue exotics from around the world. The farm was featured on an episode of Dirty Jobs, and Mike Rowe was a snake handler. He was thisclose to me and I missed out. It still pains me to this day. Anyway, we hope to catch a show or maybe feeding time. A LIVE feeding!!
And then we shall go to lunch π

We loved the snake farm!
And I was tickled to see Lemurs there, too. Talk about the crowning touch to the visit (beyond the Siths, of course).
More poisonous critters there than I ever saw in one place. And the Boomslang kept eyeballing me.

Because it has great taste, I’m sure π

No, it was cold calculated Evil with which it eyed me. I am sure of it.

Nice! I’d love to visit some place like that….we’re gonna be down in the Austin area (Cedar Park) over Thanksgiving, may have to see if there’s one nearby. Awesome photo ops!!!

Only about 60 miles from Austin, so come down!

That is a beautiful looking snake. Such a pretty colour.
November 19th, 2013 at 2:53 PM
Emerald boa, and one of my favorites. π

I love the way they go all Salvadore Dali on the branches. Snakes/lizards are also particularly good for B&W prints, you really get the texture of the scales that way.
November 19th, 2013 at 9:08 PM
Heh, Dali is right π
November 19th, 2013 at 6:00 PM
That very boa yawned as I was getting ready to take its picture. It was pretty cool. The picture I took did not do its color justice.
November 19th, 2013 at 9:08 PM
It was still a great pic π

I met and talked to Mike Rowe a few years ago. He’s a really down to earth nice guy.
I’ve also handled a few snakes in my time, including wrangling an anaconda in a terrarium with a snake pole, so the zookeeper could clean the enclosure.
Just a couple of my awesome moments. π
November 19th, 2013 at 9:09 PM
You totally rock π
November 22nd, 2013 at 8:56 AM
Agster, you’ve seen lots of pictures of me holding snakes, so you know I’d love to accompany you to that cool snake place. For S & G’s, we could “borrow” a couple of de-fanged rattlers for the day and walk around “speaking in tongues” and pretending to be snake-handlin’ hillbillies. π
November 22nd, 2013 at 9:53 AM
HAHAHAHA!!! This place screams “BC” π
