Sorry about dropping the ball yesterday. It was Halloween, and on top of that, had to spend the morning running errands across town. Oh, and it was Halloween. That means I was also busy finishing up my costume. Which was epic, by the way.
*begins making plans for next Halloween*
Anyway, our friend roamingfirehydrant sent me an email with a wonderfully awesome suggestion for a Never List. And when I say “wonderfully awesome”, I mean it.
Songs You Never, Ever Want to Hear
#5– Friday, by Rebecca Black
This needs no explanation, as captioned above.
#4– Macarena, by Los del Rio
I have nothing against Spanish music, obviously. I do have something against stupid lyrics in any language.
#3– I’m Too Sexy, by Right Said Fred
Narcissistic AND annoying only works if you’re in politics.
#2– Achy Breaky Heart, by Billy Ray Cyrus
Not only was it a remake of someone else’s song, it brought mullets into fashion. That should be a felony.
#1– Don’t Worry, Be Happy, by Bobby McFerrin
I like the sentiment, don’t get me wrong. But you don’t need to reiterate it over and over again. That defeats the purpose, and makes me feel all stabby again.
Hope y’all enjoy your Friday, without the earworms 😉

Ugh. Pretty much anything by John Lennon/Beatles.
November 1st, 2013 at 10:03 AM
Totally 😀
November 1st, 2013 at 4:03 PM
I knew I liked you for a reason! I mean, a reason other than the sharpened, blood-specked machete you’re holding in your right hand.

HAHAHAHAHA!!!
November 1st, 2013 at 9:57 PM
ETA:
Anything by Michael Jackson. Young, old, black or white. Just not a fan of the guy.
“Follow Me” by Uncle Cracker. Catchy tune, and I admit to bobbing my head to it when it first came out…until I listened to the lyrics all the way through. I was going through a divorce at the time. Cannot stand to hear that song now.
Anything disco. BeeGees give me the heebees.
“Sledgehammer” by Peter Gabriel. Quite possibly the WORST sexual innuendos ever.
Anything by Lady Gaga. If she crammed any more egotistical self-worship into an album, my speakers would pop out of the doors.
“Santeria” by Sublime. As a gun owner, this song is wrong on so very many different levels…
November 3rd, 2013 at 9:26 AM
*hides disco LPs* 😀
November 1st, 2013 at 9:14 AM
THANK YOU for putting “Don’t Worry, Be Happy” at the #1 spot. I continually had that song thrown in my face by a very irritating person in college. I would also put “Jack and Diane” by John Mellencamp on that list. After all, I’m not familiar with the Friday song. I don’t think I’ll go look it up, either.
November 1st, 2013 at 10:02 AM
For all that is holy, do NOT look up that song 😀
November 1st, 2013 at 7:59 PM
What’s the matter with “Jack and Diane”?
Now I know what to play in the shop.
November 3rd, 2013 at 9:26 AM
Do it, and die, dude…
November 1st, 2013 at 10:26 AM
Yoko Ono/Babs Streisand/Liza Minelli/Sheryl Crowe doing a “Best Of” medley of their collective repertoires… Throw in Roseanne Barr and you’ve gone even further past the Geneva Conventions’ prohibition on mass torture/genocide.
November 3rd, 2013 at 9:27 AM
Liza has a great voice, but she should stick to original crap.
November 1st, 2013 at 10:50 AM
This suggestion was inspired by the Nationwide commercial with “Love is Strange”. I used to like that song, but the ad is on every five minutes on the Weather Channel. I get my morning exercise vaulting for the remote when it comes on. Hatey hate hate it now.
I used to love Lynyrd Skynrd, but after living in Alabama for 28 years, I can’t listen to “Sweet Home Alabama” any more unless it’s this version.
Finnish and Russians singing about America FTW.
I do like the Youtube mashup of Star Trek scenes to “I’m Too Sexy”, but that’s because it’s Star Trek.
November 1st, 2013 at 4:40 PM
Leningrad Cowboys are one of Deb’s favorites as well.
Second, or perhaps Third BC’s comment above.
And all your top 5, Aggie, have been soooo beaten to death over the years….if nothing else, they need a long, long rest before seeing any sort of airplay.
November 3rd, 2013 at 9:31 AM
Finnish and Russians?? That’s awesome.
And maybe I’m a heretic, but I loathe “Sweet Home Alabama”.
November 1st, 2013 at 12:13 PM
I think you have those selections in reverse order, LC. Bobby McFerrin is tolerable. Rebecca Black is grounds for justifiable mass homicide.
BC, however, has his finger on the nuclear trigger.
November 3rd, 2013 at 9:32 AM
Look, be grateful I skipped over Rick Astley altogether. And the reason I placed them in that order is that McFerrin tends to seep into your subconscious, whereas Black’s makes you scream and run to kill it with fire.

I don’t mind Don’t Worry. But that’s probably because that was one of my favorite video’s of that era. Where else can you see Robin Williams in his full on cocaine induced mania being allowed to do what ever he wants to do? So I would have to replace that one with MMM BOP (Hansen Bros). Remember that lil diddy? The worst kind of bubblegum moosic…..
Then again it all comes down to personal “taste”, I cant help it if other peoples like the taste of de poopy….
Muwahahahahaha…
November 3rd, 2013 at 9:32 AM
HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!
November 1st, 2013 at 4:07 PM
This is on my never list.
November 3rd, 2013 at 9:33 AM
Ugh…. I avoided this for obvious reasons 😛
November 1st, 2013 at 4:08 PM
Oh, and because of things that occurred earlier, I hate this particular Friday, too.
November 3rd, 2013 at 9:33 AM
I know, and you have my condolences 😦
November 1st, 2013 at 4:18 PM
I Heard It Through The Grapevine makes me want to go on a shooting spree.
November 4th, 2013 at 12:19 PM
I completely understand that. Can’t abide raisins to this day 😉
November 1st, 2013 at 5:48 PM
Where’s Gangham Style?
November 3rd, 2013 at 9:34 AM
Dying slowly and painfully, one can hope.
November 1st, 2013 at 7:18 PM
So, basically I should hide far far away from you Aggie, when I yell out “Friday, Friday , gotta get down on heeeeeyyyyyyy Macarena! “. Right? 😀
Sorry for your loss, Clete.
November 1st, 2013 at 8:14 PM
Thank you kindly.
November 3rd, 2013 at 9:34 AM
RUN!!!!!!!!!!!!
November 1st, 2013 at 7:57 PM
#1 is my #1 in the list of “Things I Totally LOATHE”, except my #1 is shared jointly.
“Don’t Worry, Be Happy” and mimes. Second place goes to “Feelings”.
November 3rd, 2013 at 9:35 AM
Mimes…. *stabs desk*
November 1st, 2013 at 10:00 PM
Its a small world after all, sung by Muskrats in love…

November 3rd, 2013 at 9:34 AM
WIN!!!
November 3rd, 2013 at 8:01 AM
[…] Another one I should have saved for the Daily Motivations. Funny, but true as hell! The blog of the month for October has a great Never List. […]
November 4th, 2013 at 6:48 AM
I saw Right Said Fred at the Rewind Festival on Palladia over the weekend. Still a dork after all these years. And that song still sucks.
November 4th, 2013 at 12:14 PM
I feel for your ears 🙂
November 4th, 2013 at 12:47 PM
Christmas music. All of it. For multiple, deeply-ingrained (not the same as -inbred) reasons.
