Today marks the start of Lent.
And if y’all know me, I go all out for it.
So, no libations of the alcoholic kind. No sweets, no fatty foods, and no sodas. In truth, I like testing my will power this way. And in the long run, I do save a few pennies, too.
I bet you’re singing it in your head now, aren’t you??
Hey, if I have to suffer, so do y’all π

Is everyone else at home on your program? I work with a guy who does something similar. Even completely meat free of Fridays.

Heh. I have no idea who that is or what song you’re talking about…I happen to have Steppenwolf’s “Born To Be Wild” stuck in my head this morning. Could be worse…”Chess Club” (or whatever the name of that song is) was on the radio this morning, too.
I think I prefer Steppenwolf.
February 13th, 2013 at 1:59 PM
You are lucky. VERY lucky π
February 13th, 2013 at 6:51 PM
No kidding. The other day, I had an Ace of Base song stuck in my head (something about signs). It was driving me nuts, until I mentioned it being there to a co-worker….five minutes later, I caught her humming it. My agony was over, the song was gone! It had jumped hosts.
February 14th, 2013 at 7:03 AM
I just read this and started humming that song….
GAH!!!
February 13th, 2013 at 10:40 AM
if I did give up any of my vices or quirks, my family would have to quarantine me for their own safety…. π
February 13th, 2013 at 1:59 PM
HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!
February 13th, 2013 at 1:37 PM
Good luck, going two days without alcohol is pretty near impossible under Obama.
February 13th, 2013 at 2:00 PM
Oh, I gave up TV, too π

Given the choice between that picture above or a rollickin’ case of Typhoid I think I’d opt for the Typhoid. Thank you for that imagery.
At what point is your list going to be so long that you forego the basic necessities of life?
So far you haven’t given up air and water, so you should be safe for another year at least. Does “no sodas” include tonic water? It’s not sweet so can it really count? It even has “water” in the name.
February 14th, 2013 at 7:04 AM
Tonic water is allowed, since it has no sugars in it π
Enjoy the typhoid!!

Wow, Aggie, by the end of Lent, you will either be a paragon of virtue, or a big bucket of frazzled nerves. Or maybe both. Either way, good luck. π
February 14th, 2013 at 7:05 AM
I’m always a bucket of frazzled nerves. The problem is the eventual grumpiness that accompanies this… journey π
February 14th, 2013 at 9:53 AM
I gave up TV years ago, I can’t do that. I think I shall give up cheap wine and Starbucks.
February 14th, 2013 at 10:27 AM
Well, you’ll save quite a few pennies JUST giving up Starbucks π
