Sing a song of sixpence, this ain’t. I’m just going to go ahead and blame Nicole for it, though she found it at Dustbury, who got it from Bayou Renaissance Man, who got it…. Well, you get the idea. But I figure it’s a short meme, and I have been lacking in blog fodder, and it’s bound to cause someone to get an earworm, so WINNING!!
What was the first song you ever bought?
I saved lunch money until I could buy Heat of the Moment, by Asia.
Yep, I still own it. I will NEVER get rid of it.
What song always gets you dancing?
It’s a statistical tie: Shook Me All Night Long, by AC/DC, and Dance the Night Away, by Van Halen. And I think the latter edges out the former, but not by much.
What song takes you back to your childhood?
The Emperor Waltz, by Johann Strauss II. Not a song, but my dad used to play it a lot while I was growing up.
What is your perfect love song?
This one is tough. Our song, mine and Hubby’s, is not a traditional love song. And since I wish to keep that tidbit of trivia to myself, I shall go with my second choice: At Last, by Etta James.
What song would you want at your funeral?
Well, since The Imperial March would be too clichΓ©, and Who Wants to Live Forever? by Queen would be too heartbreaking, I shall go with Llama, Llama, Duck.
Y’all didn’t think I would be serious at my own funeral, did you?
Time for an encore. One last song that makes you, YOU.
I thought about this one for a while. Fire Woman, by The Cult. Smoke, she is arising π

I like to clean house to Witchy Woman, Pour Some Sugar on Me and Friends in low places. Our song (me and hubby) is You’re My Best Friend by Don Williams. Tennessee Waltz takes me back to childhood. At my funeral I like The Anchor Holds or Just a Closer Walk With Thee. The song that is mostly me is…..Red Neck Girl!

HA!! That last one fits you to a T π
And I love Just a Closer Walk With Thee. Little One memorized it and sings it everyday!

I stole your idea and put it in the world of the Queen!
August 30th, 2012 at 2:42 PM
YAY!! Thanks for playing π
August 30th, 2012 at 2:33 PM
I’m not sure why you insist in keeping the A&M fight song just between you and hubby.
August 30th, 2012 at 2:42 PM
Because it’s speshul, ok???

Hard one (shut up). I think the list would change all the time. Here’s today’s version. Having thunk it up, I’m all tired.
I think the first album was Ramsey Lewis’s “The In Crowd'” but I’m not sure nearly 50 years on.
I don’t dance (zip it), so I’ll list one that always makes me cry: Tchaikovsky’s 1812 Overture. When the bells of peace ring, I’m done.
As a child, we wore out a yellow plastic 45 of Tennessee Ernie Ford’s “Sixteen Tons.”
Love? Roy Orbison’s “I Drove All Night.”
I agree with The Queen, “Ode to Joy” for the dirt nap.
This last one is the most fun. “Going in for Guns” by Dos Gringos. It won’t make much sense unless you are/were a fighter puke, especially an F-16 driver. I think the spirit comes through, though.

I love “Sixteen Tons”! Hubby and I sing it all the time π
The last one is very you, too!

Loved Heat of the Moment. π
And Llama Llama Duck… just as unique as you are. A perfect fit. π

If anyone would get it, it would be you, Nicole π

2. Mel Brooks’ “Inquisition” number in History Of The World Part I.
3. Fox On The Run – Sweet
4. Wicked Love – Chris Isaak
5. Touch Of Grey – Grateful Dead
6. Behind Blue Eyes – The Who

Iggy Pop’s cover of “Wild One” covers most of my scenarios, excepting Louis Armstrong’s “Wonderful World.” For my funeral, having my corpse carried out to David Rose’s “Holiday For Strings” would be awesome.
September 5th, 2012 at 8:38 AM
I totally see you as an Iggy Pop type of guy. Totally π
September 6th, 2012 at 10:01 PM
I’m not, but I was. Iggy’s “Wild One” was pure garage band and the 3-note 4-beat bass is classic. Screw modulation. Rock is all C, F and G. PERIOD.

Did you miss the Utoobage of Tom Waits & Iggy Pop in “Coffee & Cigarettes?” It’s a must see.

First record I bought with my own money? Little Willy by The Sweet…
Man, am I old!
ANYWAY, check out the acoustic version of Heat Of The Moment that John Wetton performs on Steve Hackett’s live album The Tokyo Tapes.
