And I had a wonderful time. Yesterday I had the Travelling Red Dress™ photo shoot (info on the TRD is here). I had an amazing time with the photographer, Elizabeth, of Amakua Market Photography. She is a young woman who has an infectious love of life, and a wonderful personality, as well as that rarest of rare things: a love of her job. Grateful for the warm weather, we decided to go to the Japanese Gardens and walk around taking pics and laughing while enjoying the scenery.
And this is me. In the Almost Red Dress.
Yes, pixelated to protect my secret identity.
I found that this dress has a secret: it’s a magnifying glass. I started off wearing this dress to give myself a bit of magic, and found that the dress didn’t give it to me, it only let’s it show through. For that hour when I wore it, I saw myself like a court jester, and a petite flower, and a queen, and a little fish in the big pond full of Koi, and I loved it!! Big or small, I liked what I saw. It took me a long time to realize that I like who I am, and this dress helped me to see that others have always felt the same way. No, not everyone likes me, but at least I can see why some people do.
And the Converse All Stars™ were definitely the finishing touch 😉

The All-Stars are just part of what makes you, you.
Glad you had a great day. And wonderful pic!

I don’t “get” the tennis shoes???
February 15th, 2012 at 9:54 AM
Well, CB, I love high heels, but the dress is maroon, and so are my Converse, and let’s face it: I belong more in that pair than in a pair of Jimmy Choos 😉

We’ve always known you had those qualities, Aggie. I’m glad the TRD helped you see them as well.

^ this! Well said.

Great pic, Ags! I laughed my butt off when I got my first glimpse. The All Stars are GREAT for the trail, but if my girl tried that on the town, I’d buy her a hackey sack and drop her at the bus station! 😛

Hey, nothing wrong with the shoes. I think women should be more practical. Yeah, high heels might look good for a fashion pic, but I can’t understand why any woman would want to wear them for anything else. Bad for your back, ankles, knees, hips, etc. And, if for some reason, disaster strikes or danger rears its ugly head, you can’t run very far or fast in them. With those converse, you’re ready for action!

I love it! You have a beautiful way of expressing your thoughts!

You look good. I love a woman who can match shoes. Pure Class. The red dress deal is a good thing, the Juju Woman is thinking about it.
Anyway, pass it on, and make someone feel good, and get your buddy AG to unlock the door.
Cool Runnings!!

It wouldn’t do to have the Machete-Wielding Zombie-Killing Mom’s alter-ego unmasked.
Being married I am not allowed to say you look purty. I would if it wasn’t prohibited though.

Love the dress but the shoes make it complete.

It’s Wednesday! Very nice shot, and write-up Aggs.

A lot of us like who you are. I certainly do. A broad grin to know you can hear us.
😀

What, no machete?
It’s the ACCESSORIES that make the outfit – surely you know this….. 😛
(You look adorable; then again, I already knew that!)

Hoary carp, you guys!
Thanks so much for the wonderful words. It means a lot.
The dress may be travelling tomorrow, but the tennis shoes are mine forever 😉

Beautiful. The dress, the lady and the writing. I’m so glad the dress let you see all that about yourself. We all need to see the good in ourselves sometimes. 🙂 Or more often than sometimes 🙂
February 15th, 2012 at 10:40 PM
+1, couldn’t say it better!
February 15th, 2012 at 6:23 PM
The lady, comments, dress, and shoes….all outstanding! (But we already knew this about Aggie!)

Impressive…most impressive…!

Okay…it’s not the pixilated crime-photography face…it’s not the sneaks–good choice for the creekside BTW.
No…it’s the bow.
Now I realize that getting into a contraption like that is almost as difficult as getting into a suit of armor and you don’t have a keep full of serfs to assist you, but still…a belly bow?!?
I have seen dresses like that with cleavage bows, but if memory serves they are usually in the back.
SO…how much tequila did the serfs have before they poured you into that thing backwards?
Inquiring minds, etc.
February 16th, 2012 at 1:32 PM
HA! The bow was supposed to be off to the side, but had slipped forward when the pic was taken.
Personally, I would have done away with it, but I had posted the pic of the dress at the Travelling Red Dress page and shown it with the bow.
So there!

Gurl, I’m glad you told me your face was pixilated, I was about to email you with the name of a good plastic surgeon.
And you’re beautiful (pixilated and all.)
February 16th, 2012 at 6:18 PM
LOVE it! Love the idea, love the maroon/red, love the Converse…love you, too! You are fabulous in whatever you wear (or don’t).
You look gorgeous BTW! 😀
Someday, I will crawl out of the mud, have a bath, and do the red dress thing. I think I’m going to need it! LOL
