This morning finds my corner of the world in freezing temperatures. Ok, it’s 34* Fahrenheit, which is 1* Celsius for my readers in Metriclands. I’m well aware that some of you living up North think I’m whiny about this. And you would be right. But you would whine too, if you had enjoyed the wonderful warm weather we had through January. It was warm enough for me to wash the vehicles. It was warm enough the weeds were coming up, all confused and happy. It was warm enough that the A/C was kicking in.
I guess it’s time for me to get all the cold weather clothing out and put away the t-shirts. At least I get to clean out that part of my wardrobe.
I guess Winter is a woman, and we are always waiting for her here in Texas 😉

Snow is a four letter word 😉

At this point we’ll take the moisture any way we can get it!

The only solid season in South Texas is Summer. Our Winters tend to cycle through the three other seasons over a week or so, seldom settling into anything constant. I’ve been dove hunting shirtless on Christmas Day and unfreezing the well on a 12 degree morning in February.
We don’t get cabin fever in our Winter, but do get sun sore in Summer. A northern Winter can send you claustrophobic whilst you watch your breath turn to ice on the windows (man, I just don’t get ice fishing). During our oven Summers, we can go to the spring-fed pool at Barton Springs and watch skin glisten between bikini halves; then nachos, a cold one and Sno-Beach for shaved ice.
Yeah, I can make it sound nice, but, by August, I’m so very sick of the heat, that I pine for the first morning below 70, so I can open the windows.

It was gorgeous in Vegas yesterday and I had all my windows open. Now it’s windy and cooler. I have to be careful about which windows I open. A nice glass bowl got broken this morning from the blinds flying open and knocking it off a shelf. Luckily the $80 vase next to it hit the rug.

Hard winter is such rarity here that the weather and news anchors have to stress the 3 Ps…pipes, plants, pets. Our pipes can freeze if not covered (not designed with freezing temps in mind), plants and plants need to be let in. I hate it. Winter is for people with bigger cajones than mine!

Plants and *pets*…can’t forget the pets…poor things.

My dogs have gone out to do their business and scurried back in. Even the sheltie isn’t used to the cold 😀

Cold here too, and windy. Damn near cut you in half.

Well, it’s Monday morning in the KC metropolitan area. Right now it’s about 28 degrees Fahrenheit, there’s about an inch and a half of snow on the ground, snow’s still falling, and it’s cold. We’re supposed to get more snow this afternoon, as well as freezing rain and lots of ice on the road. Nothing like driving down the road and having the rain freezing to your windshield while you’re driving, never mind the defroster.
I’ll trade with ya!

Same thing here actually… we had warmer temps thru January, so that the tulips started coming up.. and last week it was down to 4 deg F. At least this week we are back to “freezing” temps with some snow (which was missed in December). All that salt on the road makes me wish it was warm enough to wash the car.. boy does it get filthy quick!
