I only wish it would rain. That would lift my spirits, not bring me down. I never did understand that song by The Carpenters. Living in a tropical area growing up, rain was always punctual and always welcomed, and living in such a dry area now it is always appreciated when it falls. And now that I’m a mom, Mondays are a BLESSING. There is nothing more relaxing than drinking a hot cup of tea while watching rivulets of rain dance on your window.
I used to drive my mom crazy every afternoon while living in PR, because as soon as it started to rain, I was out the door. Eventually I stopped that habit, but I still love to watch the rain fall. It’s better than Prozac, and cheaper than therapy π

The Carpenters, there was something not completely right about them. I always thought they were creepy.

I’m sooo glad I’m not the only one, PR π

Wait, Carpenters are not completely right? Hey I’m a carpenter and …… well….. um….. yeah I got to agree with you on that.
Oh wait, you are talking about The Carpenters….. love the music….. and yeah, something not quite right about them either.

This month, I wrote about the rain and used that same photo. What is it about the rain that makes us reminisce; having to slow down?

HA!! We have great taste, Rather π
Don’t know why, but I even reminisce about hurricanes!

I like a rainy day once in a while.
note: you probably like Eddie Rabbit’s “I Love a Rainy Night” better than that The Carpenters song.

HA! I do π

Running outside on a warm rainy day was always fun as a kid, and even more so, with my sweetieheart. And unless you are directly related to the Wicked Witch of the West, there should be no fear of melting!
And I kinda thought Karen Carpenter was kinda hot, in an alto voice sounding way. Her brother, on the other hand, was right there for creep factor.

Aggie,
This song is right up your ally!

Yeah, there’s something off about the Carpenters. Never known another group that could take some of the most godawful depressing lyrics and put it to a cheery sounding melody the way the Carpenters did.
Oh I’m feeling so low, cause my life’s about to go, la la la la la la la la la la la! *not an actual Carpenters lyric, just an example of the type of gloomy shit they would sing about

Nothing wrong with rainy days. I remember the storms we would get in New Orleans. Kansas has nothing like the rainstorms I experienced growing up down there. I recall many a time when the day would start off with a nice blue sky around 0730, but then by 0900, the sky had turned so black you would swear it was night-time again. Then the bomb would drop, and rain would come down so hard that visibility was only maybe ten to twenty feet ahead. An hour later, the streets were flooded. We kids would often go out ‘swimming’ in the streets and splashing in the water, even though our parents had admonished us not to, because of the various dangers.
That was fun.

Rain makes me happy.
